What you will learn
Once you have completed a pre course interview with your teacher, they will suggest the right starting level for you. Each level of learning builds on the skills from the level before.
On a functional skills English course, learners will focus on improving their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. They will practice reading comprehension, writing clear and concise texts, and using proper grammar and punctuation. Additionally, they will develop effective communication skills for everyday situations, such as writing emails, reports, and letters, and participating in discussions and presentations. The course aims to build confidence in using English in both personal and professional contexts.
How you will learn
Learners will gain knowledge via presentations, demonstrations, group discussions, question and answer sessions and practical exercises.
What will you need to bring
You will need to have pen and paper for notes.
How you will be assessed
You and your teacher will track your learning progress and set developmental targets. There will be practice exercises and informal assessments which enable to measure how well you are progressing.
At the end of the course, you will sit a formal exam.

What we expect from you
You are required to attend every session. The minimum required attendance for this course is 85%. Anything below this attendance will be reviewed by the Curriculum Development Manager and you may be withdrawn from the course and the outstanding course fees will still be payable.
