Description

Embark on your journey into the world of Fashion Design. Created for beginners, this course introduces the essential skills and techniques required to bring your fashion ideas to life. Learn how to create stylish and wearable garments, while exploring the fundamentals of design, fabric, and construction. Whether you're looking to start a career in fashion or simply explore your creative interests, this course provides a strong foundation in fashion design.
Through this course, you will:
- Understand basic fashion design principles, including design elements and garment construction.
- Learn how to draw and sketch fashion designs effectively.
- Explore the use of fabric types and textiles in design.
- Practice basic sewing and garment-making skills.
- Gain an understanding of fashion trends, colour theory, and pattern making.

Please note: The qualification you will earn from undertaking this programme of learning is the NCFE Level 1 Award in Creative Craft (Textiles).  

Who is this course for?
This course is for anyone who is interested in the art of Fashion Design, whether for purely personal enjoyment or for the purposes of developing a career.

Entry Requirements
You need to have successfully completed the Introductory Course in Fashion Design. You need at least a Level 1 qualification In Maths and English.

What you will learn
Through this course, you will: - Understand basic fashion design principles, including design elements and garment construction. - Learn how to draw and sketch fashion designs effectively. - Explore the use of fabric types and textiles in design. - Practice basic sewing and garment-making skills. - Gain an understanding of fashion trends, colour theory, and pattern making.

How you will learn
Learners will gain knowledge via presentations, demonstrations, group discussions, question and answer sessions, the completion of workbooks and practical exercises.

What will you need to bring
A notepad and a pen.

How you will be assessed
You will be assessed by the completion of workbooks and other formal documents, observation by your tutor and the formal recording of performances.

Where next?
You can progress onto relevant programmes at the college, such as Business Skills, Bookkeeping or courses aimed to help you start your own business, or you can undertake other creative qualifications at the college, such as Graphic Design.

What we expect from you
You are required to attend every session. The minimum required attendance for this course is 85%. Anything below this attendance will be reviewed by the Curriculum Development Manager and you may be withdrawn from the course and the outstanding course fees will still be payable.
