Description
Designed for beginners, this program combines essential elements from Gateway Qualifications' units to provide a foundational understanding of game design principles and the development process.
Through this course, you will:
- Use Construct 3 software during this course.
- Learn fundamental concepts of game design, including mechanics, dynamics, and aesthetics.
- Explore different game genres and their unique characteristics.
- Generate innovative game ideas and concepts.
- Create simple game assets, such as characters, environments, and user interfaces.
- Draft a basic game design document outlining the game's concept, target audience, and key features.
- Use introductory game development tools to build a playable prototype.
- Conduct basic playtesting sessions to gather feedback.
Please note: The qualification you will earn from undertaking this programme of learning is the Gateway Qualifications Level 1 Certificate in Skills for Creative Industries.

Who is this course for?
This course is for anyone who is interested in earning a qualification in Game Design, whether for personal or professional development.
Entry Requirements
You need to have successfully completed the Introduction to Computer Game Design. You need at least a Level 1 qualification In Maths and English. You also need to be able to use a computer effectively and have access to a good standard computer in order to be able to participate online, using the required software.

If the course is right for you at the present time, you can progress onto other creative courses at the college, such as the Level 1 in Computer Game Design. Alternatively, you can enrol on a business course, such as Business Skills, Bookkeeping, Setting Up Your Own Business or Self-Employment courses.
What we expect from you
You are required to attend every session. The minimum required attendance for this course is 85%. Anything below this attendance will be reviewed by the Curriculum Development Manager and you may be withdrawn from the course and the outstanding course fees will still be payable.
