Description

This foundational course is designed to introduce learners to the various purposes, techniques, and production processes involved in creating moving image sequences.
Throughout this course, you will:
- Explore how moving images are utilised across different mediums, including film, television, music videos, advertising, education, and more.
- Learn to use various research sources to inspire and develop ideas.
- Create comprehensive plans incorporating mind maps, storyboards, scripts, and production schedules.
- Gain hands-on experience in recording footage, applying animation techniques, and integrating sound.
- Understand the importance of safe working practices in production environments.
- Study different editing methods such as transitions, jump cuts, and split-screen editing.
- Utilise digital software to edit and refine moving image sequences effectively.
- Assess the strengths and areas for development in your moving image projects.
- Incorporate feedback to suggest and implement improvements.

Please note: The qualification you will earn from undertaking this programme of learning is the Gateway Level 1 Certificate in Skills for Creative Industries.  

Who is this course for?
This course is for anyone who has successfully completed the Level 1 Video Production course.

Entry Requirements
You need to have successfully completed the Introduction to Video Production. You need at least a Level 1 qualification In Maths and English. You also need to be able to use a computer effectively and have access to a good standard computer in order to be able to participate online, using the required software.

What you will learn
You will learn how to shoot video effectively, how to compose shots using professional standard techniques, editing principles and how to assemble video, the different roles and responsibilities on a film set, how to record audio well and many other forms Throughout this course, you will: - Explore how moving images are utilised across different mediums, including film, television, music videos, advertising, education, and more. - Learn to use various research sources to inspire and develop ideas. - Create comprehensive plans incorporating mind maps, storyboards, scripts, and production schedules. - Gain hands-on experience in recording footage, applying animation techniques, and integrating sound. - Understand the importance of safe working practices in production environments. - Study different editing methods such as transitions, jump cuts, and split-screen editing. - Utilise digital software to edit and refine moving image sequences effectively. - Assess the strengths and areas for development in your moving image projects. - Incorporate feedback to suggest and implement improvements.

How you will learn
Learners will gain knowledge via presentation, demonstrations, group discussion, question and answer sessions and practial exercises.

What will you need to bring
You will need a good speed computer and fast internet connection. You will also need a notepad and a pen.

How you will be assessed
You will be assessed via practical exercises, presentations, group and pair activities and the completion of workbooks.

Where next?
If the course is right for you at the present time, you can progress onto other creative courses at the college, such as the Level 1 in Video Production. Alternatively, you can enrol on a business course, such as Business Skills, Bookkeeping, or a course designed to help you set up your own business.

What we expect from you
You are required to attend every session. The minimum required attendance for this course is 85%. Anything below this attendance will be reviewed by the Curriculum Development Manager and you may be withdrawn from the course and the outstanding course fees will still be payable.
