Description

This course is designed to enhance your understanding of visual language components and equip you with practical skills to create compelling graphic design work.
Throughout this course, you will:
- Learn how to use Adobe Illustrator to design and complet your projects.
- Explore traditional and contemporary elements such as color, tone, line, texture, composition, and typography.
- Engage in hands-on experimentation using both traditional materials (e.g., paint, pencil, ink) and digital tools (e.g., image manipulation software, graphics tablets) to develop your unique style.
- Apply your learned skills to produce original work that meets specific design briefs, making informed adjustments throughout the creative process.
- Critically assess your own work, identifying strengths and areas for improvement to enhance future design projects.

Please note: The qualification you will earn from undertaking this programme of learning is the Gateway Qualifications Level 2 Certificate in Digital & Creative Industries.  

Who is this course for?
This course is for anyone who has successfully completed the Level 1 in Graphic Design or your existing knowledge of this subject is of a very high standard.

Entry Requirements
You need to have successfully completed the Level 1 Graphic Design Programme (unless your existing knowledge of this subject is of a very high standard). You need to have a good level of English and Maths. You also need to be able to use a computer effectively and have access to a good standard computer in order to be able to participate online, using the required software

What you will learn
This course will give you the opportunity to study the work of contemporary and historical artists, typographers and designers. You will also learn the traditional and digital skills required to develop your own ideas and creativity, building significantly upon the taught material undertaken in the Level 1 Graphic Design Qualification. You will utilise and have access to Adobe Illustrator for the duration of the course.

How you will learn
Learners will gain knowledge via presentations, demonstrations, group discussions, questions and answer sessions and practical exercises.

What will you need to bring
A notepad and a pen.

How you will be assessed
You will be assessed via practical activities, workbooks, group and pair activities and presentations.

You can progress onto relevant programmes at the college, such as Graphic Design or Web Design or you can undertake business and finance qualifications at the college, such as Business Skills, Bookkeeping or Setting Up Your Own Business/Self-Employment courses,

What we expect from you
You are required to attend every session. The minimum required attendance for this course is 85%. Anything below this attendance will be reviewed by the Curriculum Development Manager and you may be withdrawn from the course and the outstanding course fees will still be payable.
