Description

Breathe new life into your wardrobe with this practical clothing alterations course. Perfect for parents, fashion lovers, or anyone looking to make simple adjustments to their garments, this course will teach you how to alter clothing that's too big, long, or short, as well as how to make basic repairs.
Throughout this course, you will:
- Learn how to adjust hems, take in or let out garments, and resize clothing.
- Practice essential repair techniques, including fixing seams and patching fabric.
- Gain confidence in making alterations for children's school uniforms and everyday wear.
- Work on your own clothing item, with hands-on guidance and support.
Save money, reduce waste, and tailor clothes to fit perfectly  

Who is this course for?
This course is for anyone who is interested in learning how to undertake basic alterations and repairs for clothing and other fabric-based products.

Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course; however, you will need to be able to read and write in English at Entry Level 3 to get the most out of your learning.

What you will learn
You will focus on clothing items that may be too big, long, or short, learning how to make simple alterations and repairs to your garments. This is especially useful for parents with children who need to adjust school trousers or other clothing. You will need to bring in your own item for alteration to work on during the course.

How you will learn
You will learn via presentations, practical activities, workbooks, group and paired activities and group discussions.

What will you need to bring
A notepad and a pen.

You will be assessed via practical activities and workbooks.

Where next?
You can be referred to other creative qualifications at the college, such as Floristry and Graphic Design.

What we expect from you
You are required to attend every session. The minimum required attendance for this course is 85%. Anything below this attendance will be reviewed by the Curriculum Development Manager and you may be withdrawn from the course and the outstanding course fees will still be payable.
