Who is this course for?
A functional skills maths course is great for anyone who needs practical math skills for daily life and work. This includes adults wanting to handle their finances better, employees looking to improve their job skills, and job seekers needing a math qualification. It's also helpful for learners who find traditional math hard and prefer a more practical approach.

What you will learn
At Entry Level 2, you’ll build on the basics and start using maths more confidently in everyday life. You’ll explore numbers, shapes, time, and simple data, helping you solve real-life problems at home, at work, or out and about. By the end of the course, you’ll be able to: Count, read, write, and compare numbers up to 100, Add and subtract two-digit numbers, Know your 2, 5 and 10 times tables, Recognise odd and even numbers, Use money and calculate simple totals and change, Understand and use measures for length, weight, and capacity, Read the time on an analogue and digital clock to the half hour, Recognise and name 2D and 3D shapes, Sort and display simple data in tables, lists or pictograms.This course will help you feel more confident using maths in everyday situations like budgeting, planning your time, or reading simple instructions. It’s a great step towards Entry Level 3 and beyond.

How you will learn
You will gain knowledge via presentations, demonstrations, group discussions, question and answer sessions and practical exercises.

What will you need to bring
We will provide handouts, resources and access to a MyMaths account. You will need to have pen and paper for additional notes.

How you will be assessed
At Entry Level 1, 2 and 3, you will complete a paper-based assessment. The test is made up of short, practical questions which is internally marked and externally quality assured by City and Guilds. At Level 1 and 2, you will take an externally marked assessment.

Where next?
Once you have completed the qualificiation, we'll support you in your next steps which could be Entry Level 3. We will offer helpful information, advice, and guidance to point you toward other courses that match your goals and interests.

What we expect from you
You are required to attend every session. The minimum required attendance for this course is 85%. Anything below this attendance will be reviewed by the Curriculum Development Manager and you may be withdrawn from the course and the outstanding course fees will still be payable.
