What you will learn
Level 2 is the highest Functional Skills Maths qualification and is widely recognised by employers and colleges. It builds your confidence with more advanced problem-solving and prepares you for work, apprenticeships, or further education. You’ll learn to: Use and apply a wide range of numerical skills, including fractions, decimals, percentages, and ratios, Solve problems using multi-step calculations, Understand and use formulas and equations, Convert between metric and imperial units, Work with 2D and 3D shapes, including perimeter, area, and volume, Interpret and create more complex graphs and charts, Use probability and statistics to make decisions, Estimate, check answers, and use appropriate methods and tools, Solve real-life problems in contexts like budgeting, planning, and interpreting information. Completing Level 2 shows you can confidently use maths in practical, real-world situations—it’s often accepted as a GCSE-equivalent pass (Grade 4/C).
How you will learn
You will gain knowledge via presentations, demonstrations, group discussions, question and answer sessions and practical exercises.
What will you need to bring
We will provide handouts, resources and access to a MyMaths account. You will need to have pen and paper for additional notes.
How you will be assessed
At Entry Level 1, 2 and 3, you will complete a paper-based assessment. The test is made up of short, practical questions which is internally marked and externally quality assured by City and Guilds.
At Level 1 and 2, you will take an externally marked assessment.

What we expect from you
You are required to attend every session. The minimum required attendance for this course is 85%. Anything below this attendance will be reviewed by the Curriculum Development Manager and you may be withdrawn from the course and the outstanding course fees will still be payable.
