This course will equip you with the understanding needed to identify mental health issues and provide appropriate support in educational and care environments.
Throughout this course, you will:
- Learn about common mental health issues affecting children and young people.
- Understand the factors that impact mental health and well-being.
- Explore strategies to support and promote positive mental health.
- Gain insight into how to provide effective support in both individual and group settings.
Who is this course for?
This course is for anyone who is supporting a child or teen with mental health difficulties. This could include working within education or a parent.
Entry Requirements
If English is your second language you will need to have passed an enrty level 3 ESOL qualification and be working towards a level 1.
What you will learn
This course is made up of five units:
- Children and young people’s mental health in context
- Factors which may affect children and young people’s mental health
- Children and young people’s mental health concerns
- The impact of children and young people’s mental health concerns
- How to support children and young people with mental health concerns
How you will learn
This is an online self study course. Your tutor will be there to support you every step of the way, offering helpful feedback to build your confidence and support you through the course.
What will you need to bring
You will need to have access to a computer with internet access.
How you will be assessed
You will be assess through activities and work projects.
Where next?
On completing this course you can progress onto either Early Years or Teacher Assistant courses. This course would support job roles such as: Teaching Assistant, Health Pay Specialist or Social Work Specialist.
What we expect from you
You are required to attend every session. The minimum required attendance for this course is 85%. Anything below this attendance will be reviewed by the Curriculum Development Manager and you may be withdrawn from the course and the outstanding course fees will still be payable.
