Description

This course will help you understand the challenges and strengths associated with autism, and equip you with the tools to provide effective support in various settings, including education and care.
Throughout this course, you will:
- Understand the principles and characteristics of autism.
- Learn how to support individuals with autism in different environments.
- Explore strategies to promote communication and social interaction.
- Gain insight into the importance of person-centered approaches and inclusion.  

Who is this course for?
This course is for anyone interested in supporting an autistic person. This can include people working in education or parents wanting to know more.

Entry Requirements
If English is your second language you will need to have passed an enrty level 3 ESOL qualification and be working towards a level 1.

What you will learn
You will learn how to support and make adjustments for each individual person. You will learn how to promote autism acceptance and gain an understanding or neurodiversity.

How you will learn
This is an online self study course. Your tutor will be there to support you every step of the way, offering helpful feedback to build your confidence and support you through the course.

What will you need to bring
You will need to have access to a computer with internet access.

How you will be assessed
You will be assess through activities and work projects.

Where next?
On completing this course you can progress onto either Early Years or Teacher Assistant courses. This course could also support you in roles such as: Teaching Assistant, Nursery Worker or Training Officer.

What we expect from you
You are required to attend every session. The minimum required attendance for this course is 85%. Anything below this attendance will be reviewed by the Curriculum Development Manager and you may be withdrawn from the course and the outstanding course fees will still be payable.
