The Level 1 Award in Caring for Children is the perfect first step into the world of childcare, equipping you with essential knowledge and skills to support young children's growth, learning, and well-being.
Over 14 engaging sessions, you will:
- Explore child development from birth to 5 years.
- Learn how to create a safe, nurturing environment for children.
- Understand the importance of diet, exercise, and play in early childhood.
- Gain hands-on experience in promoting communication, social skills, and emotional development.
This course is ideal for those looking to build confidence, develop practical skills, or progress to a Level 2 Certificate in Childcare. No prior experience is required, but a good standard of English and Maths (Level 1) is recommended.
Who is this course for?
This qualification is designed to encourage learners understanding of the skills and knowledge needed to care for young children.
Entry Requirements
If English is a students second language. Learners will need to have passed an Entry Level 3 ESOL qualification and be working towards a Level 1 ESOL qualification.

How you will learn
Learners will gain knowledge via presentations, demonstrations, group discussions, question and answer sessions and practical exercises.

How you will be assessed
Learners will be assessed in class using a range of work which will make up a portfolio.
Where next?
On sucessful completing, learners will progress onto a level 2 qualification. This will require a placement within a nursery or early years setting.
What we expect from you
You are required to attend every session. The minimum required attendance for this course is 85%. Anything below this attendance will be reviewed by the Curriculum Development Manager and you may be withdrawn from the course and the outstanding course fees will still be payable.
