Description
The Essential Digital Skills qualifications cover 5 skills areas. The course ensures learners gain essential skills to perform everyday tasks using devices and handling information, creating and editing, communicating, transacting, and being safe and responsible online.
Who is this course for?
The course is suitable who don't have the basic digital skills that are typically required for life and work.
Entry Requirements
Knowledge of using a mouse and basic computer literacy would be beneficial. If you are a complete beginner, we would recommend the IT for Beginners digital course.
What you will learn
During the course you will learn how to send and reply to emails, use the internet to search for information whilst using a variety of internet tools and techniques and how to stay safe online. The course will also cover saving files into folders, an introduction to word processing where documents will be created, edited and formatted.
How you will learn
Learners will gain knowledge via presentations, demonstrations, group discussions, question and answer sessions and practical exercises.
What will you need to bring
We will provide handouts and resources for your course. You will need to have pen and paper for additional notes, and you would benefit from having a memory (USB) stick to save your work on.
How you will be assessed
There will be an online exam at the end of the course.
Where next?
The next progression step would be to enrol onto Essential Digital Skills Level 1 or ICDL Level 2.
What we expect from you
You are required to attend every session. The minimum required attendance for this course is 85%. Anything below this attendance will be reviewed by the Curriculum Development Manager and you may be withdrawn from the course and the outstanding course fees will still be payable.
