Description
Develop the core skills needed to start making your own garments on this practical, hands-on course. This course is suitable for learners who already have some basic sewing experience, and it is recommended that you have either completed one of the sewing courses at the college or have equivalent experience before joining. You will build confidence in following simple garment construction techniques, understanding how clothing pieces fit together, and producing neatly finished work. The course is designed to help you progress from sewing smaller items towards making wearable garments.
Throughout this course, you will:
Learn the basic stages of garment construction, including preparing fabric, cutting pattern pieces, and assembling sections in the correct order.
Develop confidence in using commercial sewing patterns and understanding key markings, layout guides, and instructions.
Practice essential clothing-making techniques such as seams, hems, waistbands, facings, and simple fastenings.
Explore how to measure accurately and make basic adjustments to improve fit.
Apply your skills to create a simple garment or clothing-based project.
