Description

The Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocational Achievement (AVA) is designed for individuals who assess learners in vocational settings. It is suitable for those who assess occupational competence in the workplace, as well as those assessing knowledge and skills in learning environments such as colleges or training centres.  

Who is this course for?
The Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocational Achievement (AVA) is designed for individuals who assess learners in vocational settings. Entry Requirements
Learners should be in a position to assess individuals and have access to candidates for assessment in both workplace and learning environments. Minimum level 2 in English and Mathematics.

What you will learn
This qualification provides a strong foundation in the principles and practices of assessment. Topics include: - Understanding the role and responsibilities of an assessor - Planning and carrying out assessments - Using a range of assessment methods - Ensuring assessments are fair, valid, and reliable - Providing constructive feedback and supporting learners throughout the assessment process

How you will learn
You will learn through a combination of theory and practical application, including tutor-led sessions, discussions, and real assessment practice in workplace and learning environments.

What will you need to bring
Learners should bring basic stationery such as a notebook and pen. Access to real candidates and a suitable assessment environment is required.

How you will be assessed
Assessment includes both written work and practical assessment. You will be required to assess real candidates in both workplace and learning environments, demonstrating your competence as an assessor.

Where next?
The Level 3 Assessing Vocational Achievement can lead to roles in further education, apprenticeships, and workplace training. It may also support progression into internal quality assurance (IQA) qualifications.

What we expect from you
We expect learners to attend regularly, engage actively in sessions, complete assignments on time, and maintain professional standards when assessing candidates. You are required to attend every session. The minimum required attendance for this course is 85%. Anything below this attendance will be reviewed by the Curriculum Development Manager and you may be withdrawn from the course and the outstanding course fees will still be payable.
