Description
This 3-week introductory course is designed to help adult learners explore the world of volunteering and develop the knowledge and confidence to get involved in their local community. Learners will gain an understanding of what voluntary organisations are, identify different types of organisations, and explore their main aims. The course also covers how to find current volunteering opportunities, with a focus on local organisations and the roles volunteers play within them. Participants will learn the practical steps needed to become a volunteer, including identifying personal skills and actions required, and contributing to a simple action plan for securing a role. In addition, learners will explore application methods, including how to apply for a position and contribute to writing a basic letter of application.By the end of the course, learners will have a clear understanding of volunteering pathways and be better prepared to take their first steps into a voluntary role.
