Description

Design for adults who are new to coding and want to understand how compueter programs are created. You will learn the basic principles of programming and use a visual, block-based coding sysytem (Scratch) to design and build your own simple computer program. This makes coding easier to understand as you don't need to write complex code or remember technical lanaguage. Suitable for beginners and does not require any previous coding experience.

Please attend a pre-course interview so that we can identify which course would be the most appropriate starting level for you.

How you will learn
Learners will gain knowledge via presentations, demonstrations, group discussions, question and answer sessions and practical exercises.

What will you need to bring
We will provide handouts and resources for your course. You will need to have pen and paper for additional notes, and you would benefit from having a memory (USB) stick to save your work on.

How you will be assessed
You will produce a portfoilio of your work that evidences your achievement of the learning outcomes.

What we expect from you
You are required to attend every session. The minimum required attendance for this course is 85%. Anything below this attendance will be reviewed by the Curriculum Development Manager and you may be withdrawn from the course and the outstanding course fees will still be payable.
